change

Nothing works forever. If you stick to the same routine month after month, your body becomes use to it so your body adapts and anticipates that workout, no matter how intense you workout may be. The end result: your progress will stop. To avoid this switch your routine every 4 – 6 weeks.

partnerA reliable training partner provides the necessary motivation to diet and working out harder to keep your momentum going. A knowledgeable partner with similar goals can help your workouts to be more effective and rewarding while accelerating your progress. The relationship should be mutual, with each of you highlighting the other strengths and helping with one another’s weaknesses.

You have often heard about fit guys in the gym doing 100 crunches in one session, but you never hear a professional say that. Why? 100 crunches is a cardio workout. It will burn a lot of calories, but it wont leave behind a nice ripped six pack. A well defined six pack comes from the intensity of the individual movements, If you can do more than 20 reps in any set, you aren’t working your abs hard enough. Time to add some resistance.

Always plan your workout in advance so you are going to be mentally prepared for your training session. Knowing which muscle groups you are focusing on, the exercises you will be doing, the number of sets and reps you will be doing will put you on the fast track to your goals.

logbook1Only by using a Workout Diary can you accurately track and assess your progress, isolate your trouble areas and come up with solutions to solve your challenges. Be sure to make a list of your workout routine: exercises, sets, reps and weights used. Also include other important facts like personal best in your weight lifted and reps completed, as well as your mood and the way you are feeling that day.
